Author's Statement

The Poetry that I am submitting is about my life. It reflects the after effects of residential school.

My grandma was put in residential school and this caused her to not be able to look after my Mother the way she needed to. After she had my mother she didn't know how to raise my mother, and then my mother had me and she wasn't taught how to raise me and that's why I ended up in foster care.

My Poetry reflects this and shows how foster care can be complicated.

My Life

Deep within me,

I feel lonely

Alone with the Darkness

Leave me, Fear me, Hate me

You’ll never see light,

I never saw light

They never saw light,

All never saw light.

Live with pain,

Be with anger,

See with death,

This is my life!

You’ll never know

They’ll never know

But I will always know

Because this is My life!

You’ll try to help me

They’ll try to help me,

All will try to help me

But you all will fail to help me!

You cause me pain

They cause me pain,

He causes the worse pain,

This is all my life!
